10 Traditions that Guarantee Romantic Holidays

1. Write Holiday Love Letters to each other
Write each other loving notes recounting your previous year together, including major and minor events. Put the notes inside Christmas ornaments, hanging stockings or hidden in places your partner is sure to find. If you've been together for more than a year, read the previous year's notes and reminisce.

2. Give Secret Gifts
Put up stockings and secretly stuff each other's from Thanksgiving until Christmas with special gifts you made or bought. Promise not to peek until that special day when you open your presents together.

3. Plan a Getaway
So many hotels have wonderful Holiday Get-Away packages available throughout the country before the Holidays descend. There are usually unfilled rooms this time of year and they offer discounts and other fun packages to entice visitors. Treat yourself to a get away right in your own hometown or someplace close to home before the craziness of the season hits. You'll to slow down, get cozy and make a few new memories.

4. Make a Holiday Crafts project together
Select a project you and your lover will enjoy, such as a Holiday Scrapbook, Photo Album, your own Holiday Calendar or Holiday cards. If you want something more structured, go to a Pottery-making store in your area and make a Holiday Mug or other personal, glazed keepsake. The idea is to do it together and have fun. The memories it will create will last for years!

5. Give Expected Gifts
Give a gift your partner would NEVER expect. For instance, something they have been hinting about but thought they'd never get. It is so romantic, because you paid attention to their desires. Continue to surprise each other with fun gifts, but making a tradition out of giving the really expected gifts shows that you care abut making one other happy.

6. Soak up the Magic of the Lights
When the tree is finished, turn off all the house lights, except for the tree. Sit there with your lover watching the tinkling lights as Carols serenade you in the background. It's always so magical and amazingly romantic.

7. Make time for Romance on Christmas Eve
On Christmas Eve, turn on the Christmas tree lights, turn off the house & cell phone, play soft holiday music, and open a bottle of wine, Champagne or other bubbly. Dance, cuddle and share your favorite memories of the holidays.

8. Romantic Christmas Breakfast
On Christmas morning, after opening the presents, cook a big, festive breakfast. Use china, crystal and the good silver. Bring out the champagne and orange juice and make Mimosas. The best part? Do it in your PJs!

9. Keep a Holiday Love Journal
Create a "Christmas Book." Every year write an entry in this holiday-themed blank journal. Be as creative as possible; decorate it in any manner you choose, because you're making lifelong memories!

10. Volunteer Together
There are so many groups that help the homeless and needy during the holidays. Helping out is a wonderful way to contribute and spend time with your special someone. It also reinforces how blessed you both are, regardless of all your "bad hair days."
