Your Life, Don’t Just Live It
“You have
brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
You’re on your own.
And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.”

Happy New Year Dear Friends!
It’s hard to believe that we are standing on the threshold
of yet another New Year! Wasn’t it just yesterday we were
celebrating the beginning of 2004? My wish for you is that
2005 offers you the realization of every goal, fulfilled
dreams, authentic love, glowing good health and boundless
joy.
Every New Year evokes the yearning for New Beginnings,
Appropriate Choices, Second Chances and Do-Overs. Every
New Year gives us the opportunity to do it RIGHT – no
matter what “it” is. Once again we choose.
John Lennon uttered one of my favorite truisms; “Life is
what happens to you while you’re out making other plans.”
How many of you have ever experienced that phenomenon? You
carefully planned an event, course of action, goal, or
other situation and then “Life Happened.” Life has a funny
sense of humor at times, and we can sway with the changing
winds, or remaining too rigid, break. What’s your choice?
How do I “sway?” you might ask. I so glad you did, because
that’s exactly what we’re going to explore: Creating Your
Life, Not Just Living It.
The first thing you must do when creating the life of your
dreams is to know, with utmost certainty, what you want.
Now that sounds simple enough, but you’d be surprised how
many people DON’T know! They just live their lives and
wait for Life to happen, and believe me, it WILL!
Creating anything worthwhile takes a combination of
Insight, Foresight, Planning and Trust.
You must first know what you want. In order to have a
future worth getting excited about, you have to get a
clear picture of the desired outcome. Consider the
following questions to begin the “Insight” process:
• Is there a love relationship you want to create or get
on track?
• Do you want to deepen or enhance the one you’re
currently in?
• Is there someone who “got away” and you’d love to
reconnect with him or her?
• Do you have a desire related to career, body image,
health, finances, forgiveness or some other issue?
• Are you happy with where you are in your life right now?
• Have you let go of the dreams you had when you were
younger? Are any of them still appropriate and worth
revisiting?
• What is your life really about?
Once you consider these questions and decide what is
really important to you, the second step is “Foresight”,
or seeing the perfect outcome of your dream or desire. I’m
talking about creating what you want from a very different
place than typical goal setting, I call it “Dream
Creation.”
Dream Creation is fundamentally different than standard
resolutions or goal setting because it is a deep seated
longing, desire or drive that originates from deep inside
the person. It has nothing to do with “shoulds” or the “oh
gee, wouldn’t that be nice?” goals.
Have you ever noticed that most goals or resolutions
usually originate from the head, not the heart? “It would
be great if I got a new job,” “lost a few pounds,” “began
to exercise,” “learned investment techniques” or…..…; the
list goes on. Not that any of these goals are without
substantial merit, but if the reason you set them is
because someone else told you to, or you absently say “I
should,” you’re not creating from your heart or authentic
self and you’ll never see the perfect outcome of these
things.
Thirdly is the “Planning” stage. Remember John Lennon’s
saying? Plan as carefully as you want, with as much vivid
detail as suits your needs, and always use the following
affirmations - select the ones that are most appropriate
for your desires;
• “I now manifest ____________ or better.”
• “I make $_________ this year or more.”
• “I now manifest and accept my perfect mate. They are
___________ or better.”
• “I receive ______________ by _____________ or sooner.”
• “Everyday in every way my life is more and more
magnificent.”
The reason I suggest you use affirmations formatted in
this way is to account for Life’s influence. Make your
plans and allow for something better to come along. There
is another great saying; “Too often we stare so long at
the front door that we miss the opportunity that has
entered thru the window.” That’s Life doing its thing
again.
The last piece of this puzzle is Trust. Be flexible, allow
yourself to be open to the manifestation of your dreams
and goals in wonderful and magical ways. Some of them
won’t necessarily come thru the front door, on the day and
time you expect, but may be delivered in a totally
unexpected manner, after you have given up, considered
alternatives, or just forgotten you wanted it in the first
place.
Regardless of when and how, NEVER give up on your hopes
and dreams! They are the reason we are here; the Manna
from Heaven and Cosmic Cotton Candy that makes life sweet,
beautiful and worth living.
Planning coupled with Trust will make all your dreams come
true!
Happy 2005!
